Zaporizhzhia has officially raised a new symbol of hope.
This was announced by military defender and petition author Serhiy Volynskyi during a briefing, emphasizing the significance of this event for Ukraine.
Symbol of Resilience: Flag of Hope Raised for the First Time in Zaporizhzhia
This emblem serves as a reminder to both Ukrainians and the global community about those missing in action and in captivity.
“I came to express gratitude to Zaporizhzhia for supporting the initiative to raise the Flag of Hope, which will remind everyone of the captured and missing,” stated Volynskyi.
Notably, the idea for this symbol was proposed back in August 2024 through a petition that quickly gained public support.
“This flag serves as a daily reminder of the importance of the issue concerning Ukrainian prisoners,” explained the serviceman.
The colors of the Flag of Hope hold deep significance: black symbolizes suffering in captivity, while white represents the unquenchable hope for freedom.
Zaporizhzhia Welcomes the Opening of the First Veteran Space “Veteran PRO”
The city also saw the inauguration of the first veteran center in the region, where veterans and their families can receive necessary support and consultations.
This information was confirmed by Ukrinform.
At the opening, the Minister of Veterans Affairs Natalia Kalmykova emphasized the importance of supporting veterans in their communities.
There are approximately 60,000 servicemen in Zaporizhzhia, making veteran policy a priority for local authorities.
“We plan to showcase a comprehensive veteran policy strategy to enhance veteran support,” stated Ivan Fedorov, head of the regional military administration.
The new “Veteran PRO” center is located in a renovated building in the Oleksandrivskyi district.
Fedorov also shared plans to expand the center, ensuring that veterans can access all necessary services in one location.
Director of the new space, Mykhailo Pyrog, noted that “Veteran PRO” will operate on the principle of a “one-stop shop” for veterans.
