As a result of a Russian attack in Kyiv, a volunteer family – an elderly woman and her son, who cared for ten cats at home – lost their lives.
This tragedy was reported by the Kyiv Animal Rescue Group, who were contacted by a friend of the deceased.
According to journalists from the "Unified News" telethon, the family lived on the top floor of a five-story building. The son had a disability, and his mother took care of him.
During the shelling, the family was unable to reach the shelter.
At the site of the attack, the bodies of two people and five cats were found, while one surviving cat with severe burns was located under the window.
"Our rescuers found a severely burned cat alive outside, likely thrown out by the blast wave.
The cat was urgently hospitalized by the CARP rescuers with burns over most of its body and serious lung damage," the animal rescuers stated.
The animal is currently in an oxygen chamber at the clinic's intensive care unit.
"This cat has lost its home and family, nearly lost its life. Please help us save it. We would appreciate any donation," the animal advocates added.
