Gender issues advisor Oksana Hryhorieva shared her perspective on the potential revival of mandatory military service for women in Ukraine. She emphasized that the society is currently unprepared for such a measure.

Hryhorieva made these remarks during the conference titled "The War of the Female Gender," as reported by hromadske.

"I am in favor of reinstating mandatory service. It's crucial for young women to undergo training, even abroad, with NATO's support. However, they need to be properly prepared for this process," she stated.

She also highlighted that Ukrainian society is not ready for the compulsory mobilization of women at this time.

"There could be significant protests. While we have various women’s movements – political, human rights, and others – there is no movement advocating for the mobilization of women," she explained.

It is worth noting that Oksana Hryhorieva was appointed as the first gender issues advisor to the Armed Forces of Ukraine in March 2025.

Subsequently, she stated that in her view, there are currently no grounds for mandatory mobilization of women in Ukraine, as they have not been included in the training system and are not subject to conscription.
