On Infantry Day, Ukraine successfully brought back 205 soldiers from Russian captivity.

According to President Volodymyr Zelensky's statement on Telegram and the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, this event marks a significant development.

Direct quote: "We have brought home 205 warriors. Young men and adult males from nearly all branches and types of military forces, including defenders of Mariupol and the entire front line."

They were scattered across various Russian regions, subjected to inhumane treatment.

As clarified by the Coordination Headquarters, among the released are representatives of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, including Naval Forces, Air Forces, Air Assault Forces, Territorial Defense Forces, as well as the National Guard of Ukraine and the State Border Service.

Returning home are three Ukrainian officers along with 202 soldiers and sergeants.

The released defenders had been fighting for Ukraine in the Donetsk and Luhansk directions, in Zaporizhzhia and Kharkiv, and in the Kherson, Sumy, and Kyiv regions, as well as those from the Mariupol garrison.

This exchange, which took place on May 6, is the fifth of this year and the 64th since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. Since March 2022, the Coordination Headquarters has facilitated the release of 4,757 Ukrainian citizens.
