YouTube has officially launched its innovative AI-powered video dubbing feature, now available to all content creators and supporting 27 languages, including Ukrainian.

The development of this technology spanned several years, initially being introduced in 2023 with limited access for selected creators, and expanding to the majority of channels by September 2025.

This feature allows viewers to watch videos in different languages, helping creators reach a broader audience. YouTube emphasizes that the use of automatic dubbing does not negatively affect the promotion algorithms of original content; rather, it can enhance its visibility to non-native speakers. Creators who prefer not to use AI dubbing can upload their own audio tracks or completely disable the option.

Users can check the availability of additional languages through the "Audio Track" menu in the video settings.

YouTube acknowledges that the technology may not always accurately convey tone or emotion during video dubbing. To address this challenge, the company is introducing an "Expressive Speech" feature, available in eight languages: English, Hindi, French, German, Indonesian, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish. Additionally, the company is testing a Lip Sync feature that synchronizes lip movements with the translated audio for a more natural dubbing experience.

The settings now also include a "Preferred Languages" option, allowing users to select the languages in which they wish to watch videos. This choice applies to dubbed audio as well as localized titles and descriptions. If the original is already available in one of the selected languages, YouTube will not apply AI dubbing and will play the original track instead.

Moreover, YouTube has implemented an automatic smart filtering system that determines when dubbing is inappropriate, such as in music videos or silent content.
