Google is set to release two groundbreaking models of smart glasses equipped with artificial intelligence, with an expected launch in 2026. This information was shared on the company's official blog.

The first model will function as a "screenless assistant" and will be equipped with microphones, speakers, and cameras to interact with Google Gemini. These glasses will allow users to take pictures, ask questions about their surroundings, and receive helpful real-time suggestions.

The second model will share the same AI features but will include a display integrated into the lenses. Users will be able to view step-by-step navigation, subtitles for live translation, or other essential information right before their eyes. In both cases, the glasses will operate in conjunction with a smartphone that handles the main data processing. The new products will be built on the Android XR platform, designed for augmented reality devices.

Google is collaborating with Samsung on the hardware aspects, while the design is being developed by Warby Parker and Gentle Monster, known for crafting stylish and lightweight eyewear. The company emphasizes that the new models will be comfortable for everyday use.

These Google products are anticipated to compete with the Meta Ray-Ban lineup, which already features AI-enabled models with built-in displays. Additionally, rumors suggest that Apple is also preparing its own AI-capable glasses, which could debut in 2026.
