Google has introduced new restrictions for users utilizing its free AI tools. According to 9to5Google,
the updated support document reveals that the number of image generations available in the Nano Banana Pro model has been reduced from three to two per day. The company attributed this to high demand for the feature, noting that limits may change daily.
The changes also affect Gemini 3 Pro. After its launch on November 18, users without a subscription were guaranteed 5 free requests per day, in line with the previous version Gemini 2.5 Pro. Now, free access is defined as basic, and the number of daily requests may vary depending on load.
For users on paid plans such as Google AI Pro and AI Ultra, the conditions remain unchanged — 100 and 500 requests per day respectively.
Similar restrictions have been implemented by other companies: for instance, OpenAI delayed the launch of the image generator in ChatGPT for free users due to overwhelming popularity but later made it accessible.
