The Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, in collaboration with EPAM Ukraine and WINWIN AI Center of Excellence, is launching the country’s first state hackathon, the Diia.AI Contest, focused on artificial intelligence. The main goal is to unite engineers, scientists, and experts to focus on the ethical use of AI and develop new solutions for public services.
Participants will tackle real-world cases of AI integration into the "Diia" application. Ten teams with the best projects will showcase their developments during the Demo Day. The top solutions will have the opportunity to be integrated into "Diia".
"We generated the hackathon topics based on the requests and needs of the users of "Diia". Teams will collaborate with mentors to develop AI solutions that will not only enhance service quality but could also serve as a foundation for new functionalities used by millions of Ukrainians," said Danilo Tsvok, Chief AI Officer of the Ministry of Digital Transformation and CEO of WINWIN AI Center of Excellence.
Hackathon winners will also receive grants of up to $8,000 and mentorship from top experts at EPAM Ukraine. Engineers, scientists, and anyone with experience in developing AI solutions can participate, whether as a team of 2-6 people or individually.
The hackathon will focus on three areas:
- AI for public services: development of smart assistants, navigation through public services, and formulating requests according to user needs;
- AI services for businesses: creating services for automating reporting, legal support, and accounting for entrepreneurs;
- AI for optimizing government processes: speeding up operational tasks, document analysis, data verification, and prototyping new services.
The hackathon will take place from November 14 to 23 in an online format, with a final Demo Day scheduled for November 29 in Kyiv. Details and registration are available until November 12 inclusive.
