OpenAI has unveiled a groundbreaking feature for ChatGPT called Company Knowledge, designed to help users efficiently locate information in their work environment without toggling between applications. This update is available for Business, Enterprise, and Education users and is powered by GPT-5, connecting to platforms like Slack, SharePoint, Google Drive, and GitHub.
The primary goal of this feature is to transform ChatGPT into an interactive search engine for businesses. Now, the chatbot can scan all available sources and deliver precise answers, including messages from Slack, emails, call notes in Google Docs, and support requests via Intercom. Each response comes with clear source citations for information verification.
This feature is also capable of handling ambiguous questions. For instance, when asked, “What did we conclude about the company's goals for the next year?”, ChatGPT initiates multiple searches across different sources to resolve discrepancies. The tool uses date filters and “thinks while searching,” allowing it to find information within specific timeframes.
The feature must be manually activated during new conversations. While it is enabled, ChatGPT cannot search the internet or create charts and images. OpenAI notes that future updates will integrate Company Knowledge into other ChatGPT capabilities, further enhancing workflow efficiency.
Additionally, OpenAI recently introduced ChatGPT Atlas— a browser with built-in AI and agent mode. New functionalities will be rolled out soon.
