The State Emergency Service of Ukraine has teamed up with GSC Game World to launch a new initiative aimed at raising awareness about mine safety, utilizing the world of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl.

In a video based on the game, the main character Skif demonstrates key safety principles:

  • Avoid suspicious items
  • Do not touch them
  • Return the same way you came
  • Call 101

According to the SES, approximately 23% of Ukraine's territory remains dangerous due to mines and unexploded ordnance, with demining efforts expected to take decades. Despite awareness of the risks, over half of teenagers act recklessly, particularly boys aged 14–17, who tend to underestimate the danger.

To convey this important message in an accessible manner, the SES and GSC Game World have integrated the theme of mine threats into a familiar gaming environment. Developers believe this project can help save lives by replacing dry lectures with an emotional immersion experience.
