A new update on Google Drive enables users to view videos via thumbnails when hovering over the progress bar, similar to YouTube. This feature will apply to all new videos uploaded through the web interface or mobile app. However, thumbnails are only viewable in the web version of Google Drive.
According to the company, this addition aims to enhance user interaction with video content and expedite the search for specific segments. It is emphasized that this feature does not apply to older videos uploaded prior to the release of this update.
Google states that the update will gradually be available to all users: Google Workspace subscribers, individual users, and personal account holders.
Early access to the feature opened on July 22, with a broader rollout scheduled for August 20 this year.
