Meta is set to engage in the development of new military technologies for the U.S. Army. According to The Wall Street Journal, the company has partnered with Anduril Industries, a defense firm, to propose a project named EagleEye. The contract has not yet been finalized, but it is estimated to be worth around $100 million. This initiative is part of a larger $22 billion effort by the Pentagon aimed at creating wearable technology for the U.S. military, with Anduril as the primary contractor.

EagleEye aims to develop helmets, glasses, and other wearable devices utilizing augmented and virtual reality technologies. These gadgets will come equipped with sensors to enhance soldiers' hearing and vision. For instance, they will assist in detecting drones from a distance and locating hidden targets. There are also plans for integration with artificial intelligence, enabling soldiers to interact with autonomous weapon systems based on Anduril's software and Meta's AI models.

Meta's CEO Mark Zuckerberg stated that these technologies will help "protect the country's interests both domestically and abroad." Palmer Luckey, the founder of Anduril, advocates for collaboration between major tech companies and the military, emphasizing the significance of such partnerships.

Luckey, who previously worked with Meta but left in 2017 amid controversy over his funding of an anti-Clinton campaign, is now returning to collaborate with the company. He openly supports Donald Trump and believes that Anduril will achieve even greater success under his second administration.

Anduril Industries, founded by Luckey in 2017, develops advanced systems for the military and government agencies, including autonomous drones, surveillance systems, sensors, and AI-based software. In recent years, Anduril has secured government contracts worth over $6 billion in various countries.
