The Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine has signed a collaboration agreement with the National Semiconductor Association.
According to the Ministry's announcement, this partnership will be part of the implementation of the WINWIN digital development strategy until 2030.
Under the memorandum, the following steps have been identified:
- integration of scientific innovations into production;
- participation in international initiatives;
- assistance for Ukrainian companies in entering global markets;
- support for startups through mentoring and funding;
- enhancing cybersecurity measures for semiconductor production systems;
- training specialists and creating specialized educational programs.
The ministry reminded that chips are the backbone of nearly all digital products—from smartphones to washing machines to rockets. Former Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine Valeria Ionan stated that developing domestic chip production is a strategic response to global challenges. "This will help reduce our dependence on foreign markets, diversify the economy, and establish ourselves as a significant player in global technology policy," she asserted.
It was also announced today that Valeria Ionan has completed her term as Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation. She stated that she will remain within the team and will work as an advisor to Deputy Prime Minister Mykhailo Fedorov on innovation, digitalization, and global partnerships. She emphasized that her new role will allow her to work for the state more strategically, on a larger scale, and even more effectively, focusing on innovation and international relations.
Additionally, the Ministry of Digital Transformation is exploring alternative options for small-scale chip manufacturing that could be initiated within 1-2 years.
