Apple is planning to enable users in the European Union to change their default voice assistant. According to Bloomberg, this means that instead of Siri, users will have the option to choose alternatives like Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa.

Journalists Mark Gurman and Drake Bennett report that these changes will affect several software platforms, likely including iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

This move is a response from Apple to new regulatory requirements from the European Union, which compel companies to open their ecosystems to third-party solutions.

Previously, Apple had already allowed European users to set third-party applications as defaults for browsers, navigation, messaging, and other functionalities.
