Famous Ukrainian grandmaster Vasyl Ivanchuk triumphed at the Menorca Open 2025 held in Spain.
The player completed the tournament without a single loss, securing victory in 7 out of 9 games and drawing 2.
The event featured classical time control, and players were not allowed to propose a draw until after 30 moves. The total prize fund was 26,000 euros, with Ivanchuk taking home 6,000.
It's worth noting that the last "long" tournament won by the Ukrainian player was the Bydgoszcz Chess Festival in the summer of 2023.
Previously, Vasyl Ivanchuk finished second at the Reykjavik Open 2025, just one step away from victory.
