Ukrainian hammer thrower Mikhail Kokan has celebrated his second international victory of 2025, winning a gold medal at the International Cup in Antalya.
This competition marked Kokan's third event of the season, having previously secured first place at the "Critеrium LIFA Hivernal de Lancer Long" tournament in France in February and finishing sixth at the European Throwing Cup in March.
In Antalya, Kokan faced two other athletes: the host competitor Habib Islamo Kurt and Georgian Goga Chikhvare. In his first attempt, he impressed the crowd by throwing the hammer 76.50 meters, which put him in the lead with nearly a 22-meter advantage over Kurt.
In his second attempt, the Ukrainian improved his result by three centimeters, although his third attempt was not counted. However, in his fourth throw, Kokan surpassed the 80-meter mark, achieving 80.50 m. In his fifth throw, he set a new season-best of 80.73 m. No other competitor reached even 60 meters by the end of the event.
