Slovenian specialist Uroš Velepec is set to lead Poland's biathlon team.

This was announced by the press service of the Polish Biathlon Federation.

Contract details remain undisclosed. The 57-year-old coach will begin his duties on May 1.

Throughout his career, the Slovenian has trained world champion Jakov Fak, Olympic medalist Teja Gregorin, and has served as the head coach for Ukraine (2018-2022) and Germany (2023-2025).

"After leaving Germany, I received numerous offers. I was surprised. I thought I would take a year off. But the opportunities were too tempting.

I had the chance to meet the biathletes. I see potential. It's going to be challenging, and the process will take time, but we want to step out of the shadows and show that Poland can compete too," said Uroš.
