The Ukrainian swimming team has made a significant achievement by reaching the finals of the 2025 European Championships in short course swimming. They exhibited an excellent performance in the 50 meters freestyle during the qualifiers.
The men's relay team, consisting of Mykyta Sheremet, Illia Linnik, Vladyslav Bukhov, and Stepan Babenko, completed the distance in 1:24.71 minutes, securing the sixth best time in the selection.
This performance also marked a new national record for Ukraine in this distance, surpassing the previous achievement set in 2001 when the Ukrainians clocked 1:26.09 minutes.
The final event will take place today, December 2, at 21:24 Kyiv time.
It is worth noting that in August 2025, Sheremet became the world junior champion in the 50 meters freestyle, also matching the junior world record for this distance.
