Renowned Ukrainian boxer Alexander Usyk (24-0, 15 KOs) expressed confidence in his ability to once again become the undisputed world champion. He made this statement at the annual convention of the World Boxing Council (WBC) in Thailand.
"I’m happy to be here. Do I have four belts? Now three. Many say, 'You’re not the undisputed champion.' Okay, this is temporary.
My favorite belt is always green. Mauricio, thank you for all you do. I like Thailand. This is my first time here, but I will come back, thank you," Usyk said.
It’s worth noting that in July, Usyk defeated Dubois and became the undisputed heavyweight champion (over 90.72 kg) for the second time. He was the first to achieve this since Muhammad Ali.
In November, Usyk chose to vacate the WBO title, losing his status as the undisputed champion. World Boxing Organization President Gustavo Oliveri reacted to this decision. The new title holder became British boxer Fabio Wardley (20-0-1, 19 KOs).
