The World Championship in Greco-Roman wrestling for athletes under 23 is taking place in Novi Sad, Serbia. Ukrainian athlete Egor Yakushenko, competing in the 97 kg weight category, has claimed the championship gold.
Egor began his journey in the 1/8 finals, defeating Georgian Luka Gabisonia. In the quarter-finals, he overcame neutral wrestler Abubakar Khaslakhanov. In the semi-finals, Yakushenko triumphed over Estonian Richard Karelson.
In the final, Egor faced Kazakhstani Yusuf Matiev and secured victory.
Thus, Egor Yakushenko is the World Champion in Greco-Roman wrestling for athletes under 23 years old.
It is worth noting that in August, Egor also won gold at the championship for junior athletes under 20 years old. He trains under coach Mykola Yelarinov in the Desnyansky district at the Sports Club 'Olympian'.
