The International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) has announced the continuation of its ban on athletes from Russia and Belarus participating in international competitions. This decision was made during a council meeting held this Tuesday.
The council voted to prohibit the participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes in competitions as individual neutral athletes (AIN) in the qualifiers for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan and the Paralympic Games.
It is important to note that athletes from these countries have been barred from FIS events since 2022, following the onset of the invasion of Ukraine.
Previously, the Finnish association stated its opposition to the return of Russian athletes, emphasizing that they would not be able to attend the first stage of the World Cup in Ruka.
