Diana Yastremska (30) will compete in the WTA 500 tournament next week in Tokyo, Japan. In her opening match of the main draw, the Ukrainian will face neutral athlete Diana Schneider (19).

The two players have met twice before. In 2024, Yastremska lost to Schneider on grass in Bad Homburg, while this year, the Ukrainian triumphed over the Russian in the second round of Roland Garros.

It's worth noting that Schneider is still competing in a similar category tournament in Ningbo, China, where she will play a semifinal match against her compatriot Ekaterina Alexandrova (10) on October 18.

The Tokyo tournament will take place from October 20 to 26 on hard courts. The current champion is Chinese player Zheng Qinwen (11).

As a reminder, Yastremska exited the Ningbo tournament in the second round after losing to Kazakhstan's Elena Rybakina.
