The Ukrainian national team shone at the 2025 World Rowing Championships held in Shanghai, earning their first medals - gold and silver.
According to reports from Suspilne Sport, Anna Sheremet, a two-time world championship medalist, and Roman Polyansky, a two-time Paralympic champion, participated in the finals of the para-rowing events in PR1 single sculls.
Anna Sheremet claimed gold, becoming a world champion for the first time. Previously, she had won two bronze medals at world championships in 2022 and 2023.
Throughout the race, Sheremet maintained her lead, unifying the titles of world and European champion in the PR1 class.
Roman Polyansky, who won gold medals at the Paralympics in 2016 and 2021, secured silver at the recent competition in Paris.
In Shanghai, he held second place from the start, finishing 7.09 seconds behind British competitor Benjamin Pritchard.
Additionally, in the mixed doubles PR3 finals, our athletes Stanislav Samolyuk and Daria Kotek advanced after finishing second in the semifinals, set to compete for medals on Sunday, September 28.
