Renowned Ukrainian athlete Yaroslava Mahuchikh has declined a lucrative offer to change her sporting citizenship.

This was reported by the Finnish publication Yle.

According to their information, Qatar attempted to lure the world record holder and Olympic champion from Paris. Representatives of this country offered Mahuchikh and her coach Tetiana Stepanova a significant sum for her to compete under the Qatari flag. However, this offer was refused.

"Many countries would like us to represent them. We were in Qatar, and the Qataris offer large sums for us to move there, but we... We love our city and do not wish to stay abroad", – stated Stepanova.

Recently, Mahuchikh was named to the Ukrainian national team for the 2025 World Championships, which will take place in Tokyo from September 13 to 21.
