Georgiy Sudakov: A New Chapter with Benfica

22-year-old midfielder Georgiy Sudakov has signed with Portuguese side Benfica after a successful tenure with Shakhtar.

Georgiy Sudakov, a 22-year-old midfielder, has made a move from Donetsk's «Shakhtar» to Lisbon's «Benfica».

According to the press service of the Ukrainian club, the final details of the transfer have been agreed upon, and the player has signed a personal contract with the Portuguese football giant.

Sudakov has been with the «Shakhtar» academy since 2017 and made his debut for the first team in a Champions League match against Madrid's «Real» in 2020, quickly establishing himself as a key player.

Overall, the midfielder played 148 matches for the «miners», scoring 35 goals and providing 26 assists. With «Shakhtar», Sudakov won 5 trophies: he was twice crowned Ukrainian champion (2023, 2024), won two Ukrainian Cups (2024, 2025), and the Supercup (2021). He was also named the best player of the UPL for the 2023/2024 season.

Additionally, his national team partner, goalkeeper Anatoliy Trubin, is already part of the «Benfica» squad.
