The men’s goalball team of Ukraine has emerged victorious in the international tournament held in Vilnius (Lithuania).
Germany took second place, while Lithuania-1 finished third.
In the group stage matches played in a round-robin format, the Ukrainians suffered only one defeat against Great Britain with a score of 2:7, but then secured four consecutive victories over the following teams: Lithuania-1 — 10:3; Finland — 13:3; Lithuania-2 — 14:9; Germany — 13:6.
In the semifinal match against Lithuania-2, the Ukrainian players won decisively with a score of 12:2.
The final match against Germany ended with a score of 5:4 in favor of Ukraine, with the decisive goal scored by Vasyl Oliinyk just 8 seconds before the final whistle.
The champions of the international tournament included: Vasyl Oliinyk, Anton Strelchyk, Yevhenii Tsyhanenko, Rodion Zhyhalin, Fedor Sydorenko, and Oleksandr Toporkov.
Anton Strelchyk received the special award for the tournament — best defender.
