Ukrainian national team defender Gleb Varava has joined the Polish club Polonia Bytom.

This was announced by the club's press service.

For the 23-year-old player, this marks his second experience playing abroad. In the 2018/19 season, Gleb was part of the Estonian club Panthers.

Varava hails from Kremenchuk and has also played for Dnipro Kherson and Storm Odesa.

Last season, he played 21 games for Storm in the Ukrainian championship, scoring 3 goals and providing 15 assists.

Since 2022, Gleb has been regularly called up to the Ukrainian national team. At the end of April, he played all 5 matches at the World Championship in Division IA, but did not score any points, finishing with a plus/minus rating of “+2”.

In January 2025, Gleb won a bronze medal at the Universiade with the Ukrainian national team.

It is worth noting that Polonia recently signed a contract with Ukrainian national team goalkeeper Bohdan Diachenko.

Polonia is a six-time Polish hockey champion, with their last victory dating back to 1991. Additionally, the club has been the silver medalist three times and has won bronze three times, the last being in 2017.
