Ukrainian cyclist Andrii Ponomar, representing the Mexican team Petrolike, secured a second-place finish at the prestigious one-day race Giro dell'Appennino in Italy. On June 24, competitors covered a distance of 203 km from Novi Ligure to Genoa.

Ponomar finished in second place, finishing 9 seconds behind renowned Italian cyclist Diego Ulissi from the XDS Astana team. Completing the top three was another XDS Astana representative, Simone Velasco, who trailed the winner by 14 seconds.

Also participating in the race was another Ukrainian, Kyrylo Tsarenko from Solution Tech Vini Fantini, who came in 21st place, finishing 21 seconds behind the winner.

This achievement marks Ponomar's best result since joining Petrolike in January of this year.
