Vasyl Lomachenko Announces Retirement from Boxing

Former world champion Vasyl Lomachenko has announced his retirement from boxing, thanking his team and family in a heartfelt message.

Former world boxing champion Vasyl Lomachenko has announced his retirement.

He shared this news on his Facebook page.

In a traditional manner, Lomachenko expressed gratitude to God, his father and coach, his family, and even the USA. However, he notably did not mention Ukraine or his Ukrainian fans, which sparked discussions.

The announcement regarding his retirement was made in Russian.

"Every boxer faces a day when he hangs up his gloves. That day has come for me," he stated.

His last fight was against George Kambosos, in which the Ukrainian won the IBF lightweight title. Since then, he has not stepped back into the ring.

There have been reports in the media about his health issues, particularly a back injury.

Recently, there was much speculation about his potential return to the ring, with several boxers expressing interest in facing Lomachenko, including Keyshawn Davis, Shakur Stevenson, and even Russian boxer Abdullaev.

Lomachenko has often found himself in controversial situations. For instance, he recently met with the UOC MP metropolitan and previously invested in a Russian company, in addition to expressing dissatisfaction with the PЦU metropolitan Epiphanius.
