Ukrainian gymnast Nazar Chepurnyi has secured a bronze medal at the 2025 European Gymnastics Championship, competing in vault.

The athlete placed third with a score of 14.583 points, earning Ukraine's first medal at this tournament.

The competition was won by Armenia's Arthur Davtyan, while British gymnast Jake German took home the silver medal.

Results of the European Gymnastics Championship

Vault

Arthur Davtyan (Armenia) – 14.799

Jake German (Great Britain) – 14.733

Nazar Chepurnyi (Ukraine) – 14.583

This marks Chepurnyi's second consecutive bronze in vault at the European Championship. This year, he also had the opportunity to medal in the floor exercise but finished in 4th place.

It is important to note that the Ukrainian team approached the tournament amidst a significant scandal. On May 6, it was announced that the Gymnastics Federation of Ukraine decided not to send Sartynskyi to the European Championship, where Ukrainian gymnasts were to compete.

The athletes were outraged by the FGU's decision and announced they would boycott the competition, accusing Federation Vice President Stella Zakharova of systematically undermining men's gymnastics in Ukraine.

Sartynskyi believes he was removed from the European Championship due to his resistance to the Federation's influence. Zakharova, in an exclusive comment, accused Oleg Vernyayev of orchestrating the boycott of the Ukrainian team.
