Daria Mironyuk Advances to Shanghai Grand Prix Finals

Daria Mironyuk successfully qualified for the main draw of the Grand Prix in Shanghai, representing Ukraine.

Ukrainian fencer Daria Mironyuk has made her way into the main draw of the Grand Prix taking place in Shanghai.

In the 1/64 finals, she triumphed over a competitor from Hong Kong with a score of 12:7. A total of five athletes represented Ukraine in this stage, but four did not succeed.

Alina Poloznyuk lost to Camilla Mancini (8:15), Kim Ho Yong proved stronger than Kristina Petrova (10:15), Kateryna Budenko suffered a heavy defeat to Maria Teresa Dias (5:15), and Olga Sopyt was defeated by Vladislava Penyushkina in the 1/128 finals.

The main event of the competition will occur on Sunday, May 18, at 05:00 Kyiv time.

It is noteworthy that at the end of 2024, Mironyuk won her first medal at the senior level, securing silver at the European Championship in Basel as part of the Ukrainian team.

Earlier, it was reported that the international fencing federation allowed "neutral" Russians and Belarusians to compete in team events.
