The Kyiv City Council has approved a petition advocating for cashless payment options on routes operated by private transporters.
This information has been confirmed in the Kyiv City Council's response to the petition.
It is noted that since 2018, cashless payment for public transportation has been available in Kyiv, with no restrictions on the ownership form of transport providers.
Currently, under the existing legislation of Ukraine, the Automated Payment Accounting System (APAS) is fully prepared to connect all passenger transporters in Kyiv. This connection is established based on agreements with the APAS operator.
Reports indicate that from May to August 2023, one route operated by a private provider was connected to APAS in test mode. The testing outcomes confirmed APAS's readiness to work with private transporters.
“Considering that the issue raised in your electronic petition No. 13388 'Introduction of cashless payment for private transport routes' will enhance the quality of passenger transport services, the Kyiv City Council will take actions within its authority,” the response states.
Reminder:
- In December 2023, the Kyiv authorities did not support a petition for the installation of validators in city taxis for cashless payments.
