In Chernivtsi, amidst a massive rocket attack, medical professionals fought to save the life of a critically ill girl named Zlata, who suddenly stopped breathing. They managed to resuscitate her despite the danger.
This news was shared by Marta Levchenko, a philanthropist and founder of the medical center "House of Butterflies".
"Zlata stopped breathing right during the shelling; the doctors risked their lives as they could not take cover, and the resuscitation was prolonged," she recounted.
According to her, other children were sheltered in a safe area prepared in advance by the staff.
"Most of the children in the 'House of Butterflies' were evacuated from dangerous regions, suffering from various trauma and still fear sleeping near windows due to past stress. Therefore, even the sound of shelling is a significant setback for their rehabilitation," wrote Marta Levchenko.
The hospice team is currently appealing to donors for help in installing metal shutters on the windows of the resuscitation unit.
It is worth noting that on the night of July 12, Russian forces launched 26 cruise missiles and 597 drones at cities in Ukraine. Despite the interception of most aerial targets, there were hits on civilian infrastructure, including residential buildings.
Chernivtsi became one of the focal points of the attack, resulting in two fatalities from debris, including a 43-year-old official, Svyatoslav Lazarenko, and a 25-year-old pharmacy manager, Diana Kravchenko.
Currently, doctors in the city are fighting for the lives of four severely injured individuals. According to the regional military administration, one woman is in critical condition. Additionally, 10 residents sustained minor injuries and received assistance on-site.
