Details: Zelensky's office confirmed the meeting with Trump took place but did not provide any further details. According to the Office of the President, the conversation lasted about 15 minutes.
This meeting, the first after a heated exchange in the Oval Office in Washington in February, occurred at a critical moment in negotiations aimed at ending hostilities between Ukraine and Russia.
"President Trump and President Zelensky met privately today and had a very productive discussion. More detailed information about the meeting will be released later," said Steven Chung, White House Communications Director.
Trump, who insists on a ceasefire agreement, stated on Friday that productive negotiations had taken place between his envoy and Russian leadership and called for a high-level meeting between Kyiv and Moscow to finalize an agreement.
Earlier, media reports indicated that the Trump administration handed Ukraine a one-page document in Paris, presented as a "final proposal" for peace settlement. Among other points, the US is willing to recognize Russian control over Crimea and ease sanctions against Moscow.
President Volodymyr Zelensky stated on April 24 that the US offered its strategy regarding Ukrainian territories during negotiations in London, but noted that after the US proposal, "another paper appeared".
