Before the crucial negotiations in Abu Dhabi, President Volodymyr Zelensky held consultations with the Ukrainian team.
He shared this information during an online meeting with journalists on January 23.
"Dear journalists, I have just completed discussions with our negotiation group. Before the talks, we thoroughly reviewed our positions, speaking with head of the delegation Rustem Umerov. All members of the group were present and have a clear understanding of our actions. We reviewed the topics of discussion and the desired outcomes. We also noted that formats may vary, and the group will adapt on-site depending on the development of the dialogue. This is the first such format in a long time" - emphasized Volodymyr Zelensky.
The President also mentioned that he would remain in constant contact with the team, and they would regularly exchange information, while Zelensky promised to keep the media informed about the negotiation process.

Background: President Volodymyr Zelensky approved the composition of the Ukrainian delegation to participate in peace talks with the United States and Russia. The delegation is headed by NSDC Secretary Rustem Umerov. Previously, Zelensky stated that trilateral negotiations between Ukraine, the United States, and Russia would take place this week in the United Arab Emirates. On January 23, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that Moscow insists on the withdrawal of Ukrainian armed forces from Donbas, as this is a crucial condition for ending the war.
