Cyprus President's Visit to Ukraine: Strengthening Ties

On December 4th, President of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides arrived in Kyiv for an official visit. According to the government website of Cyprus, this visit is crucial for enhancing the partnership between the two nations.
The site features images, including one of the president disembarking from a train that arrived at 8 AM, where he was greeted by Ukrainian officials, including Deputy Foreign Minister Yevhen Perebyinis.
The visit coincides with Cyprus's preparations for its presidency of the European Council. Christodoulides is accompanied by high-ranking officials, including government spokesperson Constantinos Letymbiotis and others.
During his stay, the Cypriot president will meet with President Volodymyr Zelensky, where he is expected to reaffirm Cyprus’s commitment to international law and Ukraine's sovereignty.
The leaders will discuss Ukraine's EU accession process and Cyprus's priorities during its EU presidency. They will also address the effectiveness of international sanctions and other significant matters.
It is anticipated that Christodoulides and Zelensky will lay a wreath at the memorial for fallen defenders of Ukraine in the ongoing conflict. Following this, a closed meeting and expanded negotiations will take place at the presidential palace.
Additionally, Christodoulides will visit a rehabilitation center for children who have returned from abduction and St. Sophia Cathedral before returning to Cyprus on December 5th.
