Roberta Metsola, the President of the European Parliament, announced the opening of a permanent office for this institution in Kyiv.

She made this statement during her speech at the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

«I am here this week to further enhance our cooperation. We are establishing a permanent representation of the European Parliament in Kyiv, so we can be present in Ukraine and work alongside you every day. This was our commitment to you, and we are fulfilling it», said the President of the European Parliament.

The politician began her speech by honoring the memory of former Rada Chairman Andriy Parubiy, who was killed in Lviv.

Metsola also noted that prior to her visit to the Ukrainian parliament, she visited a memorial wall to pay respects to the fallen soldiers who fought for Ukraine's freedom and independence from the aggressor.

In her speech, the President of the European Parliament emphasized the importance of sanctions pressure on the aggressor, the return of abducted Ukrainian children, and support for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
