Lars Hansen, the newly appointed ambassador of Norway to Ukraine, has officially commenced his duties in Kyiv.
This was confirmed by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
On September 8, Deputy Foreign Minister Oleksandr Mishchenko accepted the credentials from the new Norwegian ambassador.
The Deputy Minister expressed gratitude for Norway's unwavering support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as for Oslo's significant contribution to enhancing the defense capabilities of the Ukrainian state. They also discussed the importance of further coordinating international efforts to hold Russia accountable for its crimes against Ukraine and emphasized the need to strengthen sanctions against the aggressor state.
They also explored prospects for cooperation in restoring critical infrastructure and implementing joint humanitarian and cultural projects.
Before Lars Hansen, the ambassador of Norway to Ukraine was Helene Sand Andresen since 2023.
Ukraine had not had an ambassador in Norway for over two years until Oleksiy Havrysh was appointed to this position in spring 2025. Additionally, a new ambassador of Ukraine to Finland began their work in the summer.
It is worth noting that former British ambassador to Ukraine Melinda Simmons has become the ambassador to Poland.
