Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga expressed concern following the Russian assault on Kremenchuk, calling for stronger energy sanctions against the aggressor.
According to Sybiga, the attack on Kremenchuk's energy infrastructure is part of a broader campaign aimed at destroying Ukrainian civilian facilities.
He noted that Russia is trying to concentrate its attacks on Ukraine's energy system while global attention is focused elsewhere.
“This is particularly cynical, as Putin attempts to project an image of cooperation in peace talks, but his actions reflect total disregard for these efforts,” Sybiga emphasized.
Sybiga believes that Ukraine's international partners should deliver a significant blow to Russian energy through decisive sanctions.
“Implementing oil price caps, new measures against the 'shadow fleet' and their captains, and other energy sanctions could serve as powerful tools to pressure the Kremlin,” he added.
