Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is scheduled to attend the NATO summit taking place in The Hague at the end of June.
This was announced by Dutch Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans in an interview with WNL.
NATO Summit: Zelensky's Participation
“NATO is considering where Zelensky can fit into the summit agenda,” the minister emphasized.
He also noted that U.S. President Donald Trump is expected to be present.
Ruben Brekelmans did not clarify whether there would be a separate meeting between Zelensky and Trump during the summit.
The NATO leaders' summit is scheduled for June 24-26 in The Hague, Netherlands.
Zelensky's First Invitation to NATO Summit in Three Years
It was previously reported that the Ukrainian President might not be invited to the main discussions of the NATO summit in June.
The goal of this summit is to showcase unity within the alliance. Ukraine's involvement could potentially create tension, especially with President Trump, who advocates negotiations with Russia and opposes Ukraine's NATO membership in the near future.
It is worth noting that since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Kyiv has consistently participated in NATO summits.
In 2022, the Ukrainian delegation attended the summit in Madrid virtually. Zelensky was present in person at the summits in Vilnius in 2023 and in Washington in 2024.
