Details: "To appoint Nariman Enverovich Jelyalov as the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Turkey", the decree states.

Nariman Jelyalov, the deputy head of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, was released from Russian captivity at the end of June 2024.

The previous ambassador of Ukraine to Turkey, Vasyl Bodnar, was transferred to the position of ambassador to Poland in the fall, leaving the embassy in Ankara without a permanent head.

Zelensky announced Jelyalov's appointment in December as part of a significant rotation of Ukrainian ambassadors.
