Details: According to informed sources, U.S. and European officials held talks on May 12, and as a result, it became clear that the U.S. wants to allow negotiations between Russia and Ukraine on May 15 before intensifying pressure on Putin.
Agency sources indicate that if the Kremlin leader refuses to meet with Zelensky or if Russia does not agree to an immediate and unconditional ceasefire on May 15, European leaders will urge U.S. President Donald Trump to follow through on his threats and impose new sanctions on Moscow.
At the same time, it is noted that during the talks on May 12, the Americans did not provide a clear response on whether they were prepared to impose sanctions against Russia if it were to attack Ukraine this week. They also did not clarify what actions they would take if Putin refused to meet with Zelensky and continued his attacks on Ukraine.
