The chief diplomat of the EU, Kaja Kallas, emphasized that the Kremlin must halt hostilities before initiating any discussions aimed at ending the war in Ukraine.

Details: Kallas mentioned that over 100 Russian drones were used in nighttime attacks against Ukraine.
"We must exert pressure on Russia to genuinely seek peace and come to the negotiating table with Ukraine," she stated, accusing Moscow of "playing games".
"If they continue to bomb Ukraine and there is no ceasefire, then negotiations under fire are impossible," the EU’s foreign affairs chief told reporters.
Spain's Foreign Minister, José Manuel Albares, believes that if the potential meeting in Istanbul on Thursday is merely a tactic by Russia to buy time, then it holds no real purpose.
