According to the latest information from the IAEA, all three nuclear power plants under Ukrainian control—Khmelnytskyi, Rivne, and South Ukraine—are actively generating electricity. However, some blocks are undergoing planned outages, while others occasionally reduce their output.

The agency noted that at the Khmelnytskyi NPP, one reactor is on standby for maintenance and refueling, while electricity production from the second block was reduced for 36 hours earlier this week at the request of the grid operator.
At the Rivne NPP, the second block was also put on hold for maintenance and refueling, while the output from the third block was curtailed for several days this week at the operator's request.
The South Ukraine NPP also experienced fluctuations in output this week.
Specifically, "IAEA teams at the site reported that on April 17, seven drones were spotted 2 km east of the facility, a situation that frequently arises during the ongoing conflict (the war between Russia and Ukraine – ed.).
Similarly, teams, particularly at the Chernobyl site and South Ukraine NPP, continue to hear air raid sirens almost daily."
Details: IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi stated that agency experts working at the Russian-occupied Zaporizhzhia NPP were compelled to stay home on Wednesday morning after hearing loud gunfire near the main administrative building housing their office.
Additionally, Grossi noted that the IAEA team has been hearing explosions and gunfire from various distances around the plant almost every day over the past week.
