In the Rivne region, two teenagers sustained injuries from explosions involving dangerous items. One boy lost part of his fingers due to a lithium battery explosion, while the other suffered fractures from a firecracker blast.
Both incidents occurred on April 22, as reported by the regional police press service.
The first case happened in Rivne when a 14-year-old boy found a lithium battery while walking on Haidamatska Street.
"The boy took it home and started disassembling it with a knife. At that moment, it exploded.
Medical personnel admitted the minor with traumatic amputation of three finger phalanges," the law enforcement officials reported.
The other incident took place in the village of Horodok, near Rivne. In the evening, a 13-year-old local boy found a firecracker on the street. He pulled the string, and it exploded.
Doctors diagnosed him with fractures of two finger phalanges and released him after treatment.
"Authorities once again urge citizens: if you find a suspicious item, do not touch or approach it, immediately call the emergency line 102, and ensure no one else approaches the scene," police are advising.
Currently, police are investigating both incidents.
