The Romanian state company "Administration of the Maritime Ports" in Constanta is interested in acquiring Danube Logistics, which operates the International Port of Giurgiulesti. This company is set to be sold by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

This information was reported by the Romanian publication economedia.ro, as stated by "European Truth".

It has been noted that the Romanian state company has already announced a tender to select a consultant to assist in the acquisition.

The Administration of Maritime Ports of Constanta, under the Ministry of Transport of Romania, has allocated two million Romanian lei (approximately 460 thousand dollars) for consulting services in the purchase of Danube Logistics.

"Given the complexity of the deal and its strategic importance, it is first necessary to analyze the documents from the seller, prepare financial, tax, commercial, operational, and legal reports based on the audit of Danube Logistics, evaluate the company and its assets, prepare a purchase proposal, and provide assistance during the signing of the contract and conclusion of the deal," the publication lists the requirements of the Administration of Maritime Ports of Constanta for the tender winner.

The contract will be concluded for six weeks, during which the Romanian side wants to receive a full report on the acquired assets.

On April 14, EBRD announced a tender to find a new investor for the International Port of Giurgiulesti.

The bank emphasized that the tender is taking place in full coordination with the government of Moldova, including issues related to the future legal and commercial structure of the port.

The Giurgiulesti port complex is the only port in Moldova with direct access to international waterways and the Black Sea.

The complex includes the Giurgiulesti Free International Port, managed by Danube Logistics, owned by EBRD, and the Giurgiulesti cargo-passenger port, operated by the state enterprise Portul Fluvial Ungheni.

The Giurgiulesti port is the only one in Moldova capable of accepting sea vessels and was built due to the transfer of several hundred meters of the Danube coastline to Moldova by Ukraine in the 1990s.

In February, it became known that Hungary began constructing its own port in the Italian city of Trieste on the Adriatic Sea.
