Ukrposhta announces an update to its mobile application with new features to enhance delivery services.

The state postal operator Ukrposhta is set to refresh its mobile application with enhanced features by the end of June this year.

According to CEO Igor Smilyansky in an interview with Forbes Ukraine, the new app is one of the company’s top priorities for 2025.

"We aim to launch the app by the end of the first half of the year. It will not just track parcels — we are adding features for customs interaction, estimated delivery dates, document confirmation capabilities, and the ability to view the history of shipments and payments", — noted the head of Ukrposhta.

It was initially planned to launch the new Ukrposhta app in 2024, but it was postponed for various reasons. The old app has low ratings in the App Store and Google Play Market. One of its major issues is the lack of notifications regarding parcel status. The new application is expected to allow users to redirect parcels to different locations, which currently can only be done via phone calls or at post offices.

Igor Smilyansky also revealed that approximately 1 billion UAH has been invested in automation in 2024. "This amount includes guarantees for five years, and it is all our own financing", — said the CEO of the postal operator.

According to him, over 90% of parcels are now delivered on time. "I measure the effect of automation by the feedback on Facebook and TikTok. Previously, each of my posts had dozens or even hundreds of comments about how poorly Ukrposhta delivered. In the last two months — almost none. This is the most honest indicator for me, as it cannot be faked. We have fully automated the process and are currently refining the IT system so that clients can see the estimated delivery date at the time of dispatch", — concluded Igor Smilyansky.

Recall that in February 2025, Ukrposhta fully automated the sorting of parcels. In January 2025, the government transferred shares of the First Investment Bank, previously owned by Russian oligarchs, to the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development for subsequent transfer to Ukrposhta. This will enable the postal operator to have its own banking institution. Previously, Igor Smilyansky stated that after the establishment of its own bank, the capitalization of Ukrposhta would increase, allowing for the creation of an Amazon-like service in Ukraine. It is also worth noting that last year, Ukrposhta reported a revenue of 12.98 billion UAH, which is 8% more than nearly 12 billion in 2023. However, considering the annual inflation rate of 14.6%, the real growth turned into a loss — with a deficit of 387 million UAH by the end of 2024.
