Recently, there have been reports circulating in social media and news outlets about a supposed one-month reduction in school holidays for students in 2025.

The Ministry of Education has labeled these claims as "false" and clarified that the duration of the academic year is determined by each school individually.

They acknowledged that according to the Cabinet's decree, the school year lasts from September 2, 2024, to June 30, 2025. However, these dates are merely guidelines and not mandatory for all schools.

"These dates, as well as the structure of the academic year, including holidays, are set by the schools themselves, not the government. This flexibility has been part of the legislation for many years, even before the full-scale war," the ministry added.

In reality, schools have the autonomy to decide when to end the academic year for their students.

The pedagogical council takes into account:

  • the overall academic workload;
  • the security situation in the region;
  • the individual needs of students;
  • the readiness of teachers.
