The State Drug Service of Ukraine is set to inspect pharmacies regarding the presence of qualified pharmacists with proper pharmaceutical education.

This initiative comes after certain institutions were found to have inadequate staffing levels with necessary qualifications.

This was reported by the Ministry of Health.

The ministry emphasized that only pharmacy employees with pharmaceutical education are authorized to dispense medications, as this is crucial for patient safety.

Additionally, data concerning pharmacists must be entered into the electronic health system.

Pharmacies that have not submitted information to the electronic health system regarding the presence of qualified staff will be subject to inspection. The State Drug Service will verify whether these establishments operate according to their licensing conditions.

“This is an important step towards improving the quality of pharmaceutical services and ensuring patient safety. Patients should be confident that they are served by qualified professionals and that the services meet quality standards,” stated Health Minister Viktor Lyashko.

It should be noted that scheduled inspections of pharmacies will resume in January 2025, focusing particularly on those operating within hospitals.
