New Sanctions in Ukraine Target Former Officials

Ukraine has imposed new sanctions against former officials and businessmen associated with former president Yanukovych.

Ukraine has introduced new restrictions against former National Bank head Sergey Arbusov and former presidential administration chief Andriy Klyuev. 

This information comes from a decision by the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) that was enacted by President Volodymyr Zelensky. 

Also included in the sanctions list are entrepreneurs Viktor Polishchuk and Alona Shevtsova.

Details on the sanctions: Klyuev and Arbusov

Those targeted by the sanctions are officials from the presidency of Viktor Yanukovych, including Sergey Arbusov, the former head of the National Bank of Ukraine, and Andriy Klyuev, the former head of the presidential administration.

Restrictions have also been applied to Viktor Polishchuk and Alona Shevtsova, co-owner of “Ayboks Bank.”

According to media reports, Viktor Polishchuk owned the electronics retail chain “Eldorado” and the shopping mall “Gulliver.”

The sanctions include deprivation of state awards, asset blocking, and an effective ban on economic activities in Ukraine.

The decree takes effect from the day of its publication.

Zelensky imposed sanctions against Kremlin propagandists

This week, President Volodymyr Zelensky also introduced sanctions against the shadow fleet of the Russian Federation, as well as against 71 individuals and 18 propaganda media outlets.

The imposed restrictions entail asset blocking, deprivation of state awards, limitations on trade operations, measures to prevent capital outflow, cessation of economic and financial obligations, and a ban on media dissemination within Ukraine.
